I just had a baby and wanted to know if coco butter really gets rid of stretch marks?
- Asked by Female, 36-45
I've used coco butter formulas before and they seem to help them fade a bit. Hope that helps!
- Response by Female, 36-45
you're supposed to use it before you have the baby, it prevents stretch marks

Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done once you have them. I suggest keeping yourself hydrated (water) and using a good moisturizer while they fade. I've used coco butter throughout my pregnancy and I still have very large stretch marks. They eventually fade to a silvery color. See your dermatologist about retin A which will decrease the redness and perhaps help the skin.

In one word, NO! Once you get them you have them, it is in your genes. Blam your parents. Just kidding. I had my kids over 30 years ago and have a few on my hips, still! They fade with time and stay a color slightly paler then your skin tone. They do shrink some with time. They also don't tan. Since yours are new keep them out of the sun. They are just like scars and will easily burn and then they will look worse forever. Just keep using a good moisturizer and always use sunscreen if you need to be in the sun. They will look better with time. One of the prices we pay for such wonderful blessings, but I think it is well worth it.

It doesn't completely get rid of stretch marks, but it reduces the visibility. If you use it every day, you'll start to notice a difference.

It's most effective if used during pregnancy. However, it has worked to diminish the appearance of recent stretch marks. Doesn't work for old ones! Palmer's cocoa butter stretch mark lotion is a good one to try. If it doesn't help then see a dermatologist.

I used a product called Mother's Friend through both of my pregnancy's and I do not have one stretch mark! Not sure if it is still on the market....I had my children in the early 80's and I was in my early 20's. But my Mom told me about this product and it really worked! We found it at our local maternity boutique. Not sure if it works after the fact but I can promise it worked during!!
