Does anyone have any tricks for avoiding sweets and junk during a diet?
- Asked by Female, 36-45
Drinking lots of water has helped me stay full a lot longer. I add pieces of fruit to it to keep it interesting (lemon, lime, strawberry, etc.). Also, I eat some "junk" so I don't binge: no salt potato chips, dried fruit, etc. It has helped me stay away from candy bars and high-in-sugar snacks.

Chocolate milk helps control cravings and it is delicious. Milk is also healthy and can give you the daily serving of dairy needed. hope that helped :)

Chocolate milk is a good source of protein. Its great to drink after you work out.

If you understood the effects of sugar, you would not eat it -diet or no diet. Google the effects of sugar, read them, print them out, and it will certainly help you to reduce your sugar intake. It is difficult during the holidays to avoid them, but think of sugar as POISON, and it helps.

Don't deprive yourself! I am a personal trainer and an advocate of a balanced life, and that includes diet. A piece of chocolate after dinner is permissible, as is a glass of champagne. One of my favorite healthy living books is "French Women Don't Get Fat", check it out! I also don't like diets, you lose that weight fast but it's mostly water or muscle loss, not fat. Also, after a diet is over most people just gain the weight right back.
I also market Nutrilite products, one of the world's leading vitamin brands.
I can recommend some fabulous weight loss supplements, feel free to message me!

Always keep nuts and healthy snacks on hand along with a bottle of water. Snacking throughout the day will help crave your appetite. That way when you sit down to a meal you are less likely to go for seconds. Treat yourself to the occasional piece of pizza or bowl of ice cream. If you indulge often exciting treats are rare.

I keep a roll of LifeSavers in my purse. They're sweet and low in calories- I eat one whenever I have an intense craving. It keeps me from binging!

This is what helps me when I want something sweet, EXTRA GUM in different flavors such as, Key Lime Pie, Fruit Sensations, etc. It's sugar free and only 5 calories. It's a life saver!!!!

I usually drink hot tea and use Truvia instead of sugar or sweetners and I also add cinnamon. I also like to heat up an apple in the microwave in a bowl of water and then sprinkle cinnamon of the slices and that usually gets rid of the sweet tooth. You can also use light whip cream and put it on top of fruit or put it between graham crackers and put them in the freezer and it makes a really good, low cal ice cream sandwich. These are ways you can give into you sweet tooth but still not have to worry about messing up your calorie intake for the day. As for staying away from the junk food, all you have to do is do your research and find low fat options and replacements for all of you favorite junk food because there is almost a 'low fat' version of everything.

I've heard that taking the vitamin, Chromium Picolinate 200mg per day, can help with the sweet cravings. Believe you me I have them too!!!But I also don't believe in completely depriving yourself or your plan is not going to work. Alot of people suggested chocolate milk on that same note yogurt is a great treat! They have every flavor imaginable these days and if you add granola it fills you even more!

I snack throughout the day and one of my favorites is fresh berries and nonfat plain greek yogurt I add some raw sunflower or pumpkin seeds and a tbsp of flaxseed oil. It's delicious, filling and really nutritious. I also love almods and dried fruit or vegetable chips. Another really yummy snack is a slice of whole wheat toasted, and as soon as it comes out of the toaster I spread some hazelnut spread and it melts right one the bread! It's so good! and it will definately fill your craving without eating a ton of sugar or unhealthy junk food.
I think the trick is to not deprive yourselsf and to find healthy alternatives to the unhealthy snacks you like.
I hope this was helpful!!!

The friends here who are telling you to keep a piece of gum or a lifesaver in your purse at all times is giving you great advice! Your body may be craving "chocolate delight" but..the brain is actually a very stupid muscle and easy to trick, don't ignore this if you think it's a silly suggestion,Give it a shot! I do it and it does work!Sounds like I'm not the only one with a stupid brain! Oh..and once you realize your brain really is a stupid muscle..try smiling when you feel like #!*! You can actually trick your brain into thinking it's happy!Oh..sugar free Popsicles work great too! Good Luck..God know's we are all sisters in dieting!Who ever thought a bikini was a good idea has some serious explaining to do at heavens gate! {smile}

Chew on a sugar-free piece of gum by Extra, by Wrigley's!!! My favorite flavor is Winter-Fresh. Another one is Bazooka & that's sugar-free as well. They're both are great & long lasting. Or you can chew on fruit!!!

drink a lot of water normaly 1.5-2 lt of water, it fills you. Normally when following a diet you can eat as much as you want from the food you are aloud to have, however if some desert or juice becomes an obsesion you should have a slice, just a little piece of it and then STOP, it want hurt, just will relax your mind. However you need to be patient and think that one day this diet will be over and you will have reached your aim which is worth the sacrifice :)!

I sit with a huge bowl of chocolate candies right in front of my desk at work. In the beginning I couldn't help myself and I started packing on the pounds. In the last couple weeks I have been bringing my own snacks like (full bars). You can find them at costco or even big lots. I also eat a lot of fruit. Blueberries & strawberries are sweet and satisfying. Even those chocolate fiber one bars you find at your local grocery market. I also think the person who said about the lifesaver candy and fruity gum is a great idea to trick your brain. Just make sure not deprive yourself.

Well, It's kinda hard to cut them out completely, but it's easier if you give yourself like a cheat day during the week, were you allow yourself to have a treat of some kind and then you don't crave it as much and it doesn't hurt your diet if you treat yourself once in a while. It also helps if you kind of detox your kitchen and just get rid of it and only buy it when you're treating yourself to it. Hope that kinda answers your question and helps out. :)

I would say change your diet! I've been on the 17 Day Diet and lost 8 pounds in 10 days! And I'm not sure why but the way they do it you don't crave any junks or sweets. I even stopped drinking soda which it has been a habit for over 20 years. I recommend this diet to anyone. I'm so impressed!!! I was never able to stick with any diet but with this one, I can eat all day long and never be hungry. And by Cycle 4, you can eat anything including cupcakes.

Read success stories online. Go out and exercise. Talk to someone. Distact yourself with TV. tell yourself that giving in will only increase the fat.

Making sure to eat the right ratio of protein, healthy fat and carb at EVERY meal is crucial in keeping blood sugar levels stable and keeping you feel satisfied. Eating 6 small meals a day will also help with the desire to eat often, but drinking 8-8oz glasses of water daily will also help. Some people find that eating 2 teaspoons of organic coconut oil right out of the jar before your 3 meals also keeps you satisfied longer, giving you many health benefits as well as satiety longer.
